Competition Rules

  • The competition will be held at Kasich Hall.  No outside chairs will be allowed into the competition venue. Seating is bleacher style only.
  • Participants to age of 21 as of July 31, 2022 from any state may enter.
  • There are not refunds for any reason. 
  • After entry deadline (July 8, 2022) you will be notified of approximate time schedule.
  • Changes to your entry will not be permitted after the entry deadline, July 3, 2023.

  • A participation ticket for Fair admission will be sent upon receiving entry form and fee (no refunds). Tickets will be sent only for performers and directors.  One youth ticket per participant and one accompanying adult ticket will be provided. One ticket per director will be provided.
  • Contestants should plan to provide proof of age (i.e. driver’s license, birth certificate, or medical record). Failure to prove age could result in disqualification.
  • Participants are limited to one appearance per age group category (a contestant may not compete against themselves).  Violation of this rule will result in disqualification of the group.
  • Individual Age Divisions: 0-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-15, and 16-21.
  • Individual Awards: 1st Trophy, 2nd & 3rd Medallions.
  • Duet/Pairs Age Divisions: Juvenile (combined ages 20 and under), Junior (combined ages 21-26), Senior (combined ages 27-42)
  • Three Baton Age Divisions: Junior (ages 0-12) Senior (ages 13-21)
  • Any age event may be COMBINED if less than three (3) are entered in the event.
  • An Intermediate contestant is one who has won five (5) Beginner first place awards in the event entered. An Advanced contestant is one who has won eight (8) Intermediate first place awards in the event entered.  For example, once you have won five first places from any organization in Beginner solo you are restricted to Intermediate competition only in that event.
  • A twirl-off of first place winners in the Advanced Solo Twirling divisions will be held.  Winner will receive the Ohio State Fair Grand Champion Trophy.
  • Fire batons are not permitted.  Violation of this rule will result in disqualification.
  • Parade Corps/Corps Directors Meeting 8:30 am
  • Teams, Corps and Freestyle may use their own music.  An auxiliary input will be available. There will not be a CD player provided. If back-up is needed and not provided at the time of the performance, you will be disqualified.
  • Groups Age Divisions and Size (Average age includes all performing members).
    • NEW – Small-3 to 8 members    Large-9 or more members.
    • Primary 0-6.99 with a cap of age 8      Juvenile 7-9.99 with a cap of age 11
    • Junior 10-13.99 with a cap of age 15    Senior 14-21.99 with a cap of age 21
    • Majorette lines: Junior High, Senior High and Collegiate   Guard: One age division.
  • Group Awards: 1st-3rd Trophy
  • The competition directors, staff, and the Ohio Expositions Commission will not be responsible for accidents, property loss, or injuries.  Judges will evaluate the overall safety of performers.
